Supervision:

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate, I am working toward independent licensure under the supervision of approved supervisor, Alayna Brinton, LICSW.

Provider’s Education, Training, and Experience:

As a longtime resident of the valley, I am grateful for the opportunity to support individuals and families within the community. I currently serve clients in Walla Walla and hold professional licenses in both mental health counseling and substance use disorder treatment. My clinical background includes experience in mental health therapy, substance use disorder counseling, and crisis counseling, with a particular focus on supporting individuals experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns.

I work with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds and across a variety of needs and stages of change. My experience includes working with survivors of domestic violence, individuals navigating trauma and substance use, and clients experiencing complex mental health and personality-related concerns.

Trauma-informed care is a central part of my clinical approach. I have a particular interest in supporting individuals who have experienced domestic violence and sexual assault, as well as those navigating gender dysphoria and the unique challenges that can accompany identity, safety, and self-acceptance. I strive to create a space where clients can explore these experiences at their own pace while feeling respected, heard, and empowered throughout the therapeutic process.

Therapeutic Orientation and Treatment Modalities:

I take a trauma-informed approach that recognizes the impact life experiences can have on how we understand ourselves, relate to others, and navigate the world. I strive to create a therapeutic environment that feels safe, respectful, collaborative, and free from judgment. My goal is to honor each client’s experiences while supporting autonomy, choice, and empowerment throughout the therapeutic process. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you as you develop insight, build on your strengths, and make informed and meaningful decisions about the life you want to create.

I am LGBTQ+ affirming and committed to providing inclusive care that respects each person’s identity, values, experiences, and individual journey. I believe everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, respected, and welcomed in therapy.

My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing on:

● Addiction Counseling

● Gestalt Therapy Approach

● Inner-Child Work

● Parts-Work/Integral Family Systems (IFS)

● Person-Centered Therapy

● Narrative Therapy

● Strength-Based Therapy

● Positive Psychodynamic Therapy

● Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

● Existential Therapy

● Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Here is some information about my approach to care:

 I take a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to therapy, tailoring interventions to each client’s unique needs rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model. I collaborate with clients to identify the approaches that feel most effective in gaining insight, improving symptoms, navigating challenges, and enhancing overall quality of life.

 I look forward to working with you in a way that honors your voice, values, experiences, and goals. Often, the therapeutic process begins with simply learning more about yourself and exploring the concerns that have brought you to therapy. I understand that beginning therapy can feel vulnerable, unfamiliar, or even overwhelming, and I honor the courage it takes to reach out for support.

 My goal is to create a space where you feel welcomed to be open and authentic, including when vulnerability feels difficult. I recognize the strength it can take to share your thoughts, experiences, and pain with another person, and I believe that you deserve to have those parts of yourself met with compassion, curiosity, and respect.

 I also recognize that building a trusting therapeutic relationship takes time. I am here to take that time with you—to understand who you are, what matters most to you, and what you hope to gain from therapy. Together, we can work toward meaningful and holistic wellness at a pace that feels appropriate for you.

 I also believe that therapy does not have to feel stiff or clinical. I tend to be direct, genuine, and occasionally funny, and I welcome the opportunity to bring authenticity and a sense of humor into our work when it feels appropriate. I am LGBTQ+ affirming and committed to providing care that is inclusive, respectful, and mindful of the unique experiences and strengths within the LGBTQ+ community. You do not need to minimize or edit who you are in order to feel welcome in my office.

 I wish you wellness as you navigate your journey toward finding care that feels like the right fit. If you find that our approach aligns with what you are looking for, I welcome the opportunity to walk alongside you.
