James Baldwin, MSW, LICSW
Clinical Therapist
Pronouns: he/him
Like many who find their way into this field, my path to becoming a therapist was shaped by meaningful personal experiences — moments that gave me an appreciation for the courage it takes to seek support and the difference that therapy can make. That foundation continues to inform how I show up for my clients every day.
I hold a Master of Social Work degree and am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Washington State (License #SWI.LW.70042524). Over the course of my career, I have worked with individuals across the lifespan — children, adolescents, adults, and families — in community mental health settings, where I developed a strong grounding in evidence-based practice.
My clinical approach is warm, collaborative, and relational at its core. I work primarily from a strengths-based, solution-focused, and trauma-informed perspective, drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I believe structure and flexibility are not opposites — some clients benefit from clear frameworks and tools, while others need space to simply be heard first. I try to follow the client's lead and tailor my approach accordingly.
I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and the many challenges that come with life transitions. I am proud to provide affirming, welcoming care for LGBTQ+ clients and neurodivergent individuals. I am committed to creating a space that feels safe, honest, and genuinely human for every person who walks through the door.
Outside of the office, I can usually be found out for a long walk, or in my garden tending to my plants, chickens, and ducks.
